Partners
Bill Daye, FCA, TEP
Bill attended the University of British Columbia and obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1968. He received his CA designation in 1970 and was awarded the prestigious FCA designation in 2003. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
On November 1, 1991, he founded Daye & Company, following many years as a tax partner at a national accounting firm. Bill’s practice focus is taxation, specializing in estate planning, succession planning, purchase and sale of businesses and agricultural tax matters.
Bill has authored several professional development courses for the CICA, as well as Accounting and Financial Reporting for Western Farmers for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta. He has also presented papers at various tax conferences.
Bill is a member of the Edmonton Police Commission where he chairs the Finance Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Tax Foundation and is a Director of the Agricultural Financial Services Corporation where he chairs the Audit Committee.
Jackie Durocher, CA
Jackie graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1981 and received her CA in 1984. She joined the firm in 1992 after working with a national accounting firm in New Zealand. She is an accounting and audit partner and has extensive experience working with small, medium-sized and investment holding companies.
She recently served as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta Practice Review Committee. For the past five years, she was the Director of Finances for ERGO, a charitable organization that built a girls secondary school in Malawi, Africa.
Maureen Cush, CA, TEP
Maureen graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1985 and received her CA designation in 1988.
She completed the CICA In Depth Tax Course and worked as a tax manager at a national accounting firm for a number of years prior to joining Daye & Company in 1992. Maureen is currently a tax partner at Daye & Company assisting our clients with their income tax, GST, estate planning and business reorganization needs. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
She is the Treasurer of Big Sisters and Big Brothers Society of Edmonton and Area and she volunteers for the Sign of Hope Campaign and the Heart and Stroke Fund.
In addition to her practice, Maureen is the President of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area. She is also a Governor of Newman College and Past Chair of the Sign Hope Campaign.
Kim Wallin, CA
Kim was raised on a farm in Saskatchewan and attended the University of Saskatchewan, obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1985. He commenced his articles with a national accounting firm and obtained his CA designation in 1988.
Kim is an accounting and audit partner and provides accounting, tax and business advisory services to various owner-managed businesses with a concentration in the agricultural area. He also has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, specifically hospitals, municipalities, school divisions and other associations and foundations.
Kim conducts volunteer work for the United Way, St. Matthias Anglican Church and Willowby Community League. He is captain of a senior men’s hockey team in the city and also coaches minor hockey in the winter.
Al Stewart, CA
Al graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1984 and received his CA designation in 1988. He joined the firm in 2004 as a tax specialist with substantial experience in the areas of cross border transactions, corporate structures, corporate rollovers and personal income tax issues relating to overseas transfer of employees. Al became a partner of the firm in January 2006.
He also volunteers as a coach for the Beaumont Soccer Association.
Principals & Managers
Mel Petluk, CA
Mel received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 1995 and his CA designation in 1998. Mel joined the firm as a manager in 2000 and provides a wide range of services to our clients. He focuses in the areas of agriculture, trusts and estates, GST and personal and corporate income tax. Mel also volunteers on the Board of Directors for the Grange Homeowners Association as Treasurer.
Richard Holmes, CA
Richard received his Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from the University of Calgary in 1982 and went on to obtain his CA designation in 1984. He joined Daye & Company as a principal in 2002. He left the firm in 2004 to take a position with a public company, but returned in 2008. Rick provides a wide range of accounting, tax and management services to our clients.
Richard has 27 years experience in all areas of accounting and taxation, obtained from working in public practice, private industry and teaching accounting for the Faculty of Management at the University of Alberta. He was a Council Member and Committee Chairperson for several years with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Northwest Territories and acted as President/Treasurer for a number of local and regional sporting organizations.
Sandra Dargis, CA
Sandra received her Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1995 and her CA designation in 1998. She joined the firm in 2001 after several years with a local accounting firm. Sandra is experienced in providing accounting and tax services to individuals, owner-managed businesses and investment companies.
Wendy Berlando
Wendy joined the firm in 2002 as an Accounting Technician and has over 20 years experience in the accounting and finance fields. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and has obtained her Accounting diploma, with honors, from NAIT. In 2007, Wendy took on the duties of the firm's Manager of Finance and Administration.
Donna Malone, CA
Donna joined our firm in July 2003 as an Accounting Technician. She has an Accounting Diploma from MacEwan and a Bachelor of Management degree with a major in Advanced Accounting from the University of Lethbridge. She achieved her Chartered Accounting designation in December 2006.
Bober Raja, CA
Bober joined the firm in January 2007 as a Senior Accountant. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 2002 with an accounting major and achieved his Chartered Accounting designation in January 2005. Bober has several years experience in the public practice and government.
Staff
Irene Chen
Irene joined the firm in January 2006 as a co-operative educative student for an 8-month work term. After graduating university with a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting she returned to the firm in September 2007 as a full-time articling student. She is currently working towards her designation as a Chartered Accountant.
Carmen Chiosa
Carmen joined Daye & Company in July 2004 as an Accounting Technician. She has several years experience with bookkeeping and is currently completing the Accelerated Accounting Program at NAIT to obtain her Accounting Diploma.
Rob Dykes
Rob joined Daye & Company in September 2004 as a staff accountant. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor in Commerce, Accounting degree and received his designation as a Chartered Accountant in 2007.
Rami Elhakim
Rami joined Daye and Company as a CA Articling Student in May 2007. Prior to that, he completed a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in 2005, followed by a Bachelor of Commerce with an accounting major in 2007. In 2009 he obtained his Masters of Professional Accounting degree through the University of Saskatchewan and is currently pursuing his designation as a Chartered Accountant.

Joined the firm in September 2008 and is currently working towards his CA designation.
Nathan Hoag, CA
Nathan joined the firm in May 2005 as a staff accountant. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 2005 with his Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Cooperative Education. He obtained his designation as a Chartered Accountant in 2007.
Mei-Ling Irwin
Mei-Ling joined Daye & Company in 2007 as a staff accountant. She has a degree in Business Administration and is currently pursuing her designation as a Chartered Accountant.
Ryo Komatsu
Ryo joined Daye & Company in July 2009 as a staff accountant. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2009 and is currently pursuing his designation as a Chartered Accountant.
Clarence Koo
Clarence joined the firm in September 2008 as a staff accountant with over a year of experience from another medium-sized firm. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta with an Accounting major, and is currently working on obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation.
Bonita Lau
Bonita joined the Daye & Company team in January 2008 as a staff accountant. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree with an Accounting major in June 2008. Bonita is currently pursuing her designation as a Chartered Accountant.
Jim Laurenson
Jim joined Daye & Company on a part-time basis in September 2002 and came on board full time in February 2005. With over a decade in the industry and as the firm's IT Administrator, he continues to adapt new software and hardware to meet the ever growing needs of the firm and its clients.
Kristine Lee
Kristine joined Daye & Company in May 2008 as a staff accountant. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006, and completed the Bachelor of Commerce After-Degree with an accounting major in 2008. She is currently working to obtain her Chartered Accountant designation.
Marianne Lysenko
Marianne joined the firm in February 2006. She provides administrative assistance to our firm's managing partners and tax specialists.
Tiez McLean
Tiez joined Daye & Company in March 2006. She shares reception duties and provides general administrative assistance to the firm's accounting and audit staff.
Linda Peddle
Linda joined the firm in 2001. She is the administrative assistant to the human resournces partner and also handles a variety of internal and administrative functions.
Mary Basta Shaker, CA
Mary graduated from the University of Alberta with her Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting. She joined Daye & Company in September 2006 and earned her CA designation in 2009.
Natalie Stedel, CA
Natalie joined Daye & Company in January 2006 as a staff accountant. She graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a diploma in Business Administration, specializing in Accounting and upgraded her diploma to a Management Degree with a major in Accounting through the University of Lethbridge. Natalie received her CA designation in 2008.
Sherry Swabey
Sherry joined Daye & Company in 1997. She shares reception duties, as well as providing administrative assistance to our accounting and audit staff.
Sheena Watanabe
Sheena joined Daye & Company in January 2007 as a cooperative education student for an 8-month work term and is now working with us full time. She received an Accounting /Management Information Systems degree from the University of Alberta in the Business faculty and is pursuing her CA designation.
Galen Yeo
Galen joined the firm in July 2007 as a summer student and rejoined the firm on a full time basis in January 2008. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting degree and is currently pursuing his designation as a Chartered Accountant.
